October the 19th
At times I watch the Air crash investigation series and am amazed by the outstanding performance of pilots who really do their best in very challenging situations that are always fraught with fear and time limitations. I would therefore find myself awkwardly clapping at the end as they are awarded great accolades to signify their achievements. Having started with that, today, we are going back to 1968, when USAF test pilot Major William "Pete" Knight won the Harmon international aviator's trophy for "exceptional individual piloting performance".
