October the 14th
October the 14th, to me, is the most important day in the history and advancement of supersonic flight. There were many research projects before the concord, even though it mustered a lot of attention as if it just occurred suddenly. Going back to 1947...Captain Charles "Chuck" Yeager becomes the 1st person to fly faster than sound. Yeager "broke the sound barrier" in his Bell X-1 airplane, The Glamorous Glennis, named after his wife. He was able to reach 670-mph or Mach 1.015 at Muroc Dry Lake, California. (AYY)
